U15 Avengers OASA Team Going to Canadians!
The U15 Avengers OASA proved to be a very tough opponent in Napanee at the OASA Eliminations tournament. 

The boys started the weekend off on Friday afternoon with a game against the Innerkip Eagles. 
Innerkip Eagles got on the board in the first inning.
 
The Avengers took the lead in the bottom of the first. Liam Chambers singled, scoring two runs, to give the Avengers the lead, 2-1.
 
A single by Harlen Bootsman extended the Avengers lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the third inning.
 
Innerkip Eagles tied the game in the top of the fourth.
 
A single by Eagles to take the lead, 4-3, in the top of the fifth.
 
Elma Avengers jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after Harlen Bootsman doubled to center field, Myles Smith singled to center field, and Ethan Smith singled to center field, each scoring one run.
 
Bryson Boyne stepped in the circle first for Elma Avengers. The lefty gave up six hits and four runs over four innings, striking out three and walking three. Harlen Bootsman appeared in relief for Elma Avengers.
 
The Avengers piled up 10 hits in the game. Cullen Buchanan, Liam Chambers, and Harlen Bootsman each collected two hits. Liam Chambers and Harlen Bootsman were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs. Benson Hodgson paced the Avengers with two walks.
Final 7-5 Elma

Game Two went Friday evening as they met the Tara MPM Twins.
 
Tara MPM Twins were the first to get on the board in the first with a double, scoring one run.
 
Liam Chambers singled, which helped the Avengers tie the game at one in the top of the fourth.
 
The Avengers took the lead in the top of the fifth. Liam Chambers singled, scoring one run, to give Elma Avengers 2-1 lead.
 
Tara singled down the left field line on the sixth pitch of the at-bat, which helped Tara tie the game at two in the bottom of the fifth.
 
Tara captured the lead, 5-2, in the bottom of the sixth after they tripled to center field, singled down the left field line, and singled to center field, each scoring one run.
 
Cullen Buchanan stepped in the circle first for the Avengers. The southpaw gave up six hits and two runs over five innings, striking out four and walking three.
 
Liam Chambers provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Elma Avengers with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Parker Glitz and Liam Chambers each collected two hits for the Avengers. Myles Smith led the team with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting five walks for the game.
Final 5-2 Tara

Saturday the Avengers were met with the lose and go home side of the tournament bracket. First game was at 5pm and this game was a marathon lasting 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Despite trailing by as many as six runs, The Avengers would have to rallied to defeat Springbook 14-11.
 
Bats blistered as the Avengers collected 10 hits and Springbook tallied 13 in the high-scoring game.
 
Springbook got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after they hit a grand slam to left field, a ground out, scoring one run, and a singled, scoring one run.
 
Springbook added another run in the second.
 
The Elma Avengers would tie the game in the top of the fifth thanks to a single by Liam Chambers, a single by Myles Smith, a single by Reid Buchanan, and a double by Ethan Smith.
 
A walk by Rhyland Boyd gave the Avengers the lead as they stole home and the defense kicked the ball around, 11-8, in the top of the sixth.
 
Springbook tied the game in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a single, and a double.
 
The Avengers retook the lead, 14-11, in the top of the seventh thanks to singles by Liam Chambers, and Harlen Bootsman.
 
Harlen Bootsman pitched five innings in relief for Elma Avengers. The hurler surrendered seven hits and five runs (four earned) while, striking out four and walking one. Bryson Boyne started in the circle. The hurler surrendered three hits and six runs (five earned) over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking two.
 
The Avengers accumulated 10 hits in the game. Myles Smith, Liam Chambers, and Reid Buchanan each collected two hits. Ethan Smith, Myles Smith, Liam Chambers, Reid Buchanan, and Harlen Bootsman each drove in two runs. Cullen Buchanan paced the team with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up 12 walks for the game. Myles Smith stole three bases. The Avengers ran wild on the base paths, collecting eight stolen bases for the game.
Final 14-11 Elma

Immediately following this game the boys would have the Wilmot Minor team.
The Avengers got on the board in the first inning after Liam Chambers singled, scoring one run.
 
They added one run in the second. Cullen Buchanan walked, making the score 2-0.
 
The Avengers added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Liam Chambers singled to center field, Myles Smith singled down the left field line, and Reid Buchanan lined out, each scoring one run.
 
Four more Avengers runs crossed the plate in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 9-2. Parker Glitz tripled, scoring one run, Bryson Boyne homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Benson Hodgson singled, scoring one run.

First thing Sunday morning the Avengers would have the Haldimand Bulls.
They got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Liam Chambers doubled to center field, Harlen Bootsman hit a sacrifice fly, and Myles Smith singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
 
The Avengers added one run in the second. Parker Glitz singled to center field, making the score 4-0.
 
They would score five more runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Bryson Boyne tripled, scoring one run, Harlen Bootsman singled, scoring one run, Myles Smith to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Benson Hodgson singled, scoring two runs.
 
Cullen Buchanan stepped in the circle first for Elma Avengers. The lefty allowed eight hits and four runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking one.
 
Boys collected nine hits in the game. Parker Glitz and Myles Smith each collected two hits. Myles Smith, Benson Hodgson, and Harlen Bootsman each drove in two runs. Elma Avengers OASA 15U didn't commit a single error in the field.
Final 9-4 Elma

Immediately following this game they had Napanee Express waiting to play. This is where the steam ran out for the boys.
The Avengers got on the board in the first inning after Bryson Boyne doubled, scoring one run.
 
Napanee jumped into the lead in the bottom of the first when an error scored three runs, and they drew a walk, scoring one run.
 
Napanee added three runs in the second after a singled down the right field line.
 
Harlen Bootsman pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief for the Elma Avengers. The righty gave up five hits and one run while, striking out two and walking one. Bryson Boyne led things off in the circle for the Avengers. The lefty gave up two hits and seven runs (two earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking three.
 
Bryson Boyne led Elma Avengers OASA 15U with one run batted in. The left-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Liam Chambers paced the Avengers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Elma Avengers turned one double play in the game.
 
Final 8-1 Napanee

This would end the Avengers run but good enough to finish 4th in the Province and earn them a berth to the Canadians in Winkler, Manitoba. 
Way to go boys you worked hard and never gave up even when you were down.
